The Complete Saga
Book Collection
Following the Cataclysm, Krynn is plunged into centuries of chaos, famine, and political ruin. The gods seemingly abandon the world, and magic becomes feared or forgotten. Faith shatters, and the people turn to survival. This is the era in which the Chronicles trilogy begins. The return of the dragons and the rediscovery of divine and arcane magic signal a slow but vital rebirth of hope. The War of the Lance becomes a pivotal event, restoring balance to the world and reuniting mortals with the gods. Still, wounds from the Cataclysm run deep, and the struggle between good and evil remains far from over.
THE COMPANIONS ARE BACK: Join Tanis, Flint, and other classic Dragonlance heroes on a new adventure, in this series kick-off set after Dragons of Autumn Twilight.
The Companions face new challenges together and alone. While Tanis and Flint seek out a haven in the dwarven kingdom of Thorbardin, Raistlin is strangely drawn to the haunted fortress known as Skullcap. Elsewhere, Strum seeks the legendary Hammer of Kharas, and Tika embarks on a perilous journey to rescue those she loves from certain death.
But it is the dwarf, Flint Fireforge, who faces the most crucial test. The heroes race against time to save the lives of those dependent on them, forcing Flint to make a difficult choice—one on which the future of mankind may rest.
Dragons of the Dwarven Depths is the first epic fantasy adventure in the Lost Chronicles series, which reveals new and exciting events that took place during the original Dragonlance Chronicles.
The battle at Pax Tharkas is won, but the war is far from over. In the wake of their narrow victory against the Dragonarmies, the companions find themselves burdened not with celebration, but with responsibility. Hundreds of freed refugees—ill-equipped and frightened—look to them for leadership, protection, and a future. With winter descending and the threat of enemy retaliation looming, Tanis Half-Elven and his companions face an impossible task: to lead this desperate caravan to safety.
Their only hope lies in the legendary dwarven kingdom of Thorbardin, hidden deep in the mountains and sealed since the time of the Cataclysm. The companions—Tanis, Flint, Raistlin, Caramon, Sturm, Tasslehoff, and Goldmoon—undertake the perilous journey to find the entrance to Thorbardin and beg sanctuary for their people. But dwarves do not easily open their gates, even to those with noble cause, and ancient grudges still fester in the dark halls beneath the earth.
As the group ventures into the Dwarfgate, they discover a kingdom torn by internal strife. The clans of Thorbardin—Hill, Daewar, Hylar, and others—are locked in political deadlock, fearful that opening their doors to humans will reignite old conflicts. Amid this tension, Flint Fireforge finds himself reluctantly caught in dwarven politics, his lineage granting him influence he never desired. His personal journey becomes one of identity and reconciliation, as he must balance loyalty to his friends with duty to his people.
Meanwhile, deeper shadows stir. Raistlin continues his slow, deliberate ascent in power, while Tanis struggles with the burden of command and the doubts that gnaw at his heart. The fragile unity among the companions begins to crack under the pressure of exhaustion, fear, and conflicting ideals. Yet they endure, bound by friendship and purpose.
The situation reaches its climax as the companions uncover a hidden betrayal—one of the dwarven leaders has made a secret pact with the Dragonarmies. In a tense and violent confrontation, the companions thwart the treachery, saving both the refugees and Thorbardin itself from collapse. The dwarves, moved by the companions’ courage and Flint’s leadership, agree to open their gates.
Dragons of the Dwarven Depths is a story of survival, diplomacy, and the heavy burden of leadership. It shows the companions not as mythic heroes, but as weary travelers thrust into the role of protectors. While no dragons are slain and no gods descend from the heavens, the stakes are no less dire—for in this moment between battles, the future of Krynn’s free peoples is secured by courage, sacrifice, and hope.
